Forgiven people learn to forgive

The Gospel

Peter asks Jesus how often he must forgive. Jesus answers with a parable about a servant whose enormous debt is forgiven but who refuses mercy to another person.

Formation reflection

The parable connects receiving mercy with learning to extend mercy. Forgiveness can require time, boundaries, and wisdom, while still refusing to make resentment the governing principle of a relationship.
